Mormonism - Was God Always God?

A big issue we face when dealing with mormonism is if mormons believe God has always been God.

So what is the answer? Has God always been God?

Yes:
Isaiah 43:10 "Before Me no God was formed, nor shall there be any after Me."
Psalm 90:2 "From everlasting to everlasting, You are God."
Moroni 8:18 "But He is unchangeable from eternity to eternity." (Mormon Scripture)

No:
Joseph Smith - King Follet Sermon "We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that You may see."
Common Mormon Quote - "As man is, God once was, as God is, man may become."



What we find interesting is that not only does the Bible tell us God has always been God, but so does the Book of Mormon (Moroni 8:18). The way Joseph Smith worded his statement directly and literally contradicted his own scripture.
